Balikbayan Box — Customs Rules 2026

Balikbayan boxes are a cornerstone of Filipino culture abroad — an estimated 10+ million boxes are shipped to the Philippines every year. Here are the current customs rules:

Duty-Free Allowance
  • 3 boxes per year per qualified Filipino abroad
  • Total value: Not exceeding PHP 150,000 (~USD 2,700) per shipment
  • Contents: Personal effects, household items, gifts, used clothing, non-commercial goods
  • Must declare: Complete the Bureau of Customs declaration form
