Arrival Tips for Puerto Princesa Airport

  • Transport to city: Tricycles wait outside arrivals (PHP 50-150 to city centre, 10 min). Grab is not widely available in Puerto Princesa — use tricycles or arrange hotel pickup.
  • To El Nido: Head to San Jose Terminal for shared vans to El Nido (PHP 500-700, 5-6 hours). Book in advance during peak season (Dec-Apr). Last departures around 1-2pm.
  • To Underground River: Book a tour through your hotel or a local agency (PHP 1,500-2,500 including transport, boat and permit). Permits are limited — book at least 1 day ahead.
  • ATMs: Available at the airport and in the city. Bring sufficient cash as ATMs in El Nido and other remote Palawan destinations run out frequently.
  • SIM cards: Available at small shops near the airport. Globe has the best coverage in Palawan. Smart also works in main towns.
  • Cash: Bring enough Philippine pesos for your entire Palawan trip, especially if heading to El Nido. ATMs there frequently run dry during peak season.
