Departure Tips for Puerto Princesa Airport

  • Arrive early: 2 hours before domestic flights. PPS is small but can get busy with back-to-back Manila flights.
  • From El Nido: Allow 5-6 hours travel time from El Nido. Take the early morning van (5-6am departure) for afternoon flights. Late flights risk missing if the van is delayed.
  • Online check-in: Use Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines app 24-48 hours before departure. Print boarding pass or have it on phone.
  • Last-minute shopping: Limited shops at the airport. Buy Palawan souvenirs (cashew nuts, pearls, honey) in the city before heading to the airport.
  • Eco-tourism development fee: Palawan charges an eco-tourism development fee of ₱150 for departing tourists. This may be included in your island hopping tour or charged separately at the airport.
  • Weight limits: Cebu Pacific has strict baggage limits. Weigh bags before check-in. Excess baggage is expensive.

FAQ

2 hours before domestic flights. PPS is a small airport so processing is usually quick, but flights can be full during peak season (Dec-Apr). If coming from El Nido, allow 5-6 hours travel time.

Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines operate multiple daily flights to Manila. AirAsia also serves the route. Most flights go to Manila with some seasonal connections to Cebu and other domestic destinations.
